2020: Over and Out!

Date: 2nd Jan 2021 Author: Stephen Washington

First of all, happy new year!

2020 has been a new experience for the Scout Movement, more time has been spent in front of computer screens, than at the HQ – we have even done online investitures!

But that has not stopped us at Cubs from finishing this year with a bang! We started December by celebrating St Andrew’s Day through the median of dance. We had an excellent time learning some Ceilidh moves. Then our attentions turned to Christmas – we made some decorations and we ‘virtually’ went to the Panto to see ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

The highlight, however, was our final meeting of the year where we were entertained and astounded by magician Andy Green, one of our Cubs played some excellent carols on the trumpet and we had a family quiz. And the icing on the cake, one of our older Cubs was awarded his Chief Scout Silver Award.

More photos can be found in the galleries section of the website.

With hope, it will only be a short time before we meet face-to-face again, but for now we will ‘Carry On Zooming’.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
